Well, Easy had a rough time, but is on the mend now. Her wound opened and she had to return to the operating table and get restitched. We really couldn’t figure out how it opened but it opened up several inches and looked horrible. We were keeping a cone on her but upon waking up after the first week it was open.
Then 3 days later, I noticed a couple stitches missing and a lot of fluid. She had to go back to the vet to have drains put in and a few more stitches.
Two weeks post surgery and she is finally acting a lot more normal. The only thing now is that I’m afraid she’s having a little bit of Phantom Pain. I’m not sure though. She will cry out randomly looking towards the incision site but it is usually when she is exerting herself .
We love our girl so much and hate to see her in pain, but feel we are starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel.
Sorry to hear about your setback, but I am encouraged that your pup is turning the corner.
This sounds painfully like what I’m going through with Obie right now. A week after surgery he started bleeding from the incision. I took Kim in and they added a couple of staples and a bandage. That was 5 days ago. We’re still struggling a bit with bloody drainage and the area seems quite painful. He’s such a heavy dog, the problem area is right where he sits down.
Here’s hoping for nothing but smooth sailing going forward!
Hey guys, keep us posted on the phantom pain situation OK? I hope you’ll be able to get her to a rehab therapist (dont’ forget we have the fund that may reimburse for your first visit OK?).
Sending all our best for pain-free, happier days ahead.
